Kareem Al Zorkani is the Founder & Managing Director of LEVERAGE. Founded with the vision to accelerate economic prosperity, LEVERAGE is a digitally enabled financial services startup that provides corporate and advisory services to aspirational ambitious businesses. Partnering with clients to support their accelerated growth, generate value accretion, create a sustainable structure & mitigate company’s risk profile, LEVERAGE execute an information-driven decision-making process throughout an accountable and systematic organization built on accurate data, timely analytics and aggregated expertise.
In the short tenor since its establishment, LEVERAGE partnered with clients in both agricultural, industrial and service sectors and across Healthcare, Education, Consulting, Chemical manufacturing & Agro-industrial & agricultural segments. Most recently, LEVERAGE successfully advised and negotiated the establishment of Elevate Healthcare, a $380m healthcare fund focused on elevating healthcare services in Egypt & Africa.
Prior to founding LEVERAGE, Kareem spent 20+ years working with multinational organizations in the Healthcare, FMCG & Banking sectors where his critical signature was value accretion driven by performance efficiencies. Most recently, Kareem spent 8 years with GE Healthcare operating across Africa, Turkey & the Middle East in a variety of financial & operational roles. During his tenor with GE Healthcare, Kareem helped structure, design, develop & execute the Kenya HC modernization program were HC service was ramped up in 97 facilities across the 47 counties and established a local training facility that localized knowledge & expertise. In Egypt, Kareem lead the project development and execution with the UPC over a number of years and was instrumental in the development of a number of HC projects including a Hub & Spoke model focused on woman healthcare, a 200-bed state-of-the art-hospital, an oncology focused patient pathway program and a number of large-scale Healthcare projects in Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria & South Africa.
Before that, Kareem worked in both Egypt & Switzerland as the global finance business partner for Fayrouz International and was pivotal to launch the Fayrouz product in 40 markets during his 6 years working with the company. Kareem joined Fayrouz coming from HSBC Bank Egypt, where he served 6 years as a Corporate banker handing the Energy & NBFI sectors.
A graduate of the American University In Cairo, Kareem holds a bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and has attained the CFA designation in 2008. When not hard at work building LEVERAGE, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 kids, reading and golfing.
